The current minimum qualifications for the position of Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician are 60 college credits, or an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science; Certification as a Firefighter II; Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician; a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License; and, availability to work a 24 hour rotational shift.
The selection procedure consists of a physical ability test, written examination, job trait assessment, background check, drug screen, and oral panel interview. After this process has been completed, pursuant to City of Brookfield Police and Fire Commission Rules, successful candidates are placed on an eligibility list in rank order for hiring interview consideration.
