Special Collection Events

For your convenience, multiple locations throughout Waukesha County will be collecting hazardous waste on different dates within the year. 

 

Acceptable Items

The following are accepted at the sites listed above:

  • Floor/wax stripper
  • Artist and hobby paint
  • Gasoline, fuels
  • Compact Fluorescent bulbs/lamps
  • Lighter Fluid
  • Anti-Freeze – Used
  • Concrete Cleaner
  • Stain, varnish, lacquer
  • Insect or bug killer
  • Rat/rodent poison
  • Metal cleaners
  • Pool chemicals
  • Carburetors Cleaner
  • Oil and Lead-Based Paint
  • Degreasers
  • Mothballs
  • Fertilizer with weed killer
  • Mercury Thermometers, thermostats
  • Wood preservatives
  • Furniture Stripper
  • Paint Remover
  • Polish & spot removers w/solvents
Unacceptable Items

The following are unacceptable to take to a HHW Collection Site:

  • Ammunition/fireworks – call Sheriff’s Dept. at 262-896-8168
  • Empty Containers – place in trash
  • All Batteries AAA-D – place in trash
  • Latex Paint – visit www.waukeshacounty.gov/recycling for Paint Disposal Guide or call 262-896-8300
  • Medicines – consult pharmacist.  DO NOT FLUSH.  Bag and put in trash if no collection program available.
  • Sharps – needles/syringes
  • Radioactive Materials
  • Rechargeable Batteries
