Crime Prevention

The Crime Prevention Unit provides a variety of crime prevention and safety programs for the community. Information on the following programs may be obtained by calling the Crime Prevention Unit at – (262) 787-3612.

Business Watch This program establishes a formal network of communication between businesses in a block or mall area, their employees, and the police regarding crime related problems. Business Watch asks everyone in businesses to assist in providing a safe and secure workplace environment for their employees.

Neighborhood Watch This program was created to involve citizens in the prevention of residential crime. Citizens are encouraged to secure their homes and personal property; to protect themselves and their neighbors by reporting suspicious activity to the police, and to help make the Police Department more effective in its fight against crime through neighborhood involvement and participation.

Subdivisions or groups wishing to schedule a Neighborhood Watch presentation may contact the City of Brookfield Police Department’s Crime Prevention Unit.

Crime Stoppers
This program involves the public, the media, and the police in the fight against crime. It offers anonymity and cash rewards to persons who furnish information leading to the arrest and the filing of charges against criminal offenders and to the capture of fugitives.

Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) This program is designed to help young students resist the temptation of drugs. A Police Officer D.A.R.E. Instructor presents a 10 week program to fifth and sixth grade classrooms, teaching students how to “Say No” to drugs and violence.


Wisconsin Crime Alert Network
The Wisconsin Crime Alert Network (WCAN) is a statewide program that links law enforcement agencies with the business community and the public in a partnership to fight crime. This is a highly effective program which can help prevent crime and aid in the apprehension of criminals.
