Lawn Sprinkling System
City of Brookfield uses the "even/even" "odd/odd" system with lawn sprinkling/watering whether the water is from the city water utility or from private wells. This means that if you have a home with an even numbered address (i.e., ends in "2"), you can water on even numbered days before 9 AM and after 6 PM. If you have a home with an odd numbered address (i.e., ends in "1"), you can water on odd numbered days before 9 AM and after 6 PM.
Please refer to the Brookfield Municipal Code 13.12.010 Water Sprinkling section.
Water Sprinkling Policy
Best Time to Water Lawns
Morning is the best time to water most lawns. When you water early, you can water less, because more water is absorbed in your lawn. Watering during the heat of the day can harm your lawn. Watering at night, cool, moist conditions create an ideal environment for lawn diseases to develop.
In case of a water emergency, there could be further restrictions or the possibility of not being able to water lawns at all. Watch the Brookfield News for updates or contact the Utility at 262-796-6717 with questions.
