Guidelines for Donating Materials

Brookfield Public Library

We are happy to accept items:

  • in good condition with no pen, pencil or highlighter markings
  • that are completely intact without missing pages, parts or covers
  • new fiction and nonfiction titles are especially welcome

The following item WILL NOT be accepted:

  • Items that are moldy, mildewed or have any type of odor
  • Items that are damaged, torn, soiled or worn out
  • Textbooks
  • Encyclopedias/Dictionaries
  • Magazines / Newspapers
  • Music cassettes / Audiobook cassettes
  • VHS tapes
  • Records
  • Video / Computer games
  • Puzzles / Board games
  • Travel books more than 3 years old
  • Medical books more than 3 years old
  • Legal books more than 3 years old
  • Investment books more than 3 years old
  • Discarded books from ALL libraries-including ours
  • Advanced Reader copies
  • Reader's Digest Condensed Books
  • Small pamphlet type books like cookbooks or craft books

Acceptable items can be dropped off at the library circulation desk.  Please not not put items in the book drop.
