Water Rate Increase Notice

Earlier in 2019, the Brookfield Municipal Water Utility filed an application with the Public Service Commission (PSC) to increase water rates.

The Utility has not had a rate change since December 1, 2015.  The PSC developed a new rate structure to recover increased maintenance and capital improvement costs over the last four years.

Further information regarding the "rate case" can be found on the Wisconsin PSC website.

This rate change took effect on October 3, 2019.  Therefore, the 4th quarter utility bills (October-December) will include a prorated effect of the rate change.

According to the new rate structure, the quarterly bill for the average residential customer served by City water (using approximately 14,000 gallons per quarter) will increase by $15.64.

Please see the table below for a benchmark of what a residential customer should expect once the new rates are fully implemented.

Customer Type Meter Size Volume (1,000 gallons) Quarterly Bill at Old Rates Quarterly Bill at New Rates Difference
