[ARCHIVED] COVID-19 Impacts Garbage and Recycling Service

The City is working with our solid waste and recycling hauler, Advanced Disposal Services (ADS) during this period of time. They have indicated that they are still on schedule with collection and do not expect service interruptions. As you know this could change if employees become ill or need to self-quarantine. ADS has provided details about their service and changes to garbage collection in the attached letter. Essentially they are suspending collection of bulk items such as furniture and mattresses.  Also, to protect workers from possible exposure, all trash must be bagged versus loose. Recycling should not be bagged, but placed in the recycling can.  Loose items will NOT be collected. See ADS letter for more details.

The CDC recommends to tightly bag home used personal protective equipment (gloves, face masks, etc.) and toss in the trash. If from a COVID-19 positive household, double bag it and toss in the trash. Here is the link to the CDC guidance: CDC Website

If you need a second recycling can, call the City and we can make arrangements to provide you with a second leased can. Please be aware that these cans are owned by ADS and must remain with the property.
