[ARCHIVED] Independence Day - Activities Cancelled

INDEPENDENCE DAY ACTIVITIES - CANCELLED

Traditionally the City offers a full day of activities to celebrate Independence Day. Our Parade and Civic Plaza Celebration draws a large crowd that lines up 3-4 deep on both sides of Calhoun Road to see our community organizations and marching bands entertain us. The Family Fest / Fireworks at Mitchell Park draws over 10,000 annually to participate in activities such as inflatable jumping toys, free face painting, food and drink vendors, and enjoy a great fireworks show.

Unfortunately City representatives had a difficult decision to make for 2020. We carefully evaluated a variety of factors in making the decision to cancel the event. This included: planning and organization time needed to provide a great Independence Day, the unknown status of State of Wisconsin recovery plan and associated restrictions, contract agreements and financial obligations, and the safety of our residents and visitors.

We will miss our chance to celebrate Independence Day together in 2020, but we plan to return in 2021 to celebrate as a community.
