[ARCHIVED] DISTRICT 1 ALDERMAN VACANCY - Interested Candidates Being Sought

District 1 Alderman Dan Sutton has announced his resignation effective September 29, 2020.   The City of Brookfield is seeking qualified candidates for the appointment process to serve the remaining term of Alderman Sutton (expires: Apr 16, 2024).  Aldermen are the individual members that make up the Common Council body that is collectively responsible for passing municipal laws and directives to effect the orderly function of the municipality.  There are 2 aldermen representing each district in the City of Brookfield.  The opening is for District 1 which is comprised of Wards 1-2-3.  The Common Council meets twice monthly on the first and third Tuesday of each month.  The job of the Alderman is to represent the district in which he/she lives but also learn the issues and make educated decisions on behalf of, and in the best interests of, their residents.   Aldermen serve on various committees, commissions and boards to study issues affecting the City and its residents.   The annual pay is $9,911.    Please submit your letter of interest along with a resume to the City Clerk by Noon on Thursday, September 24th, 2020.

To be eligible to serve, an individual must be a citizen of the United States and the State of Wisconsin; a qualified elector of the City of Brookfield; and a resident of the 1st Aldermanic District (see map and the announcement document).
