[ARCHIVED] Trick or Treat for the City of Brookfield - Saturday, October 31, from 5:00-7:30 pm

Trick or Treat for the City of Brookfield – Saturday, October 31, from 5:00 – 7:30 pm.  Trick or Treat is not a City event.  The City sets the date and time but it is up to each person whether they want to have their children participate or if they want to distribute candy.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends against participating in traditional trick-or-treating where treats are handed to children who go door to door.  Visit the CDC website CDC Guidelines for Safe Holidays to see Halloween activities which are listed as lower risk, moderate risk and higher risk.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services also recommends against traditional trick-or-treating with children going house to house and having in person contact.  Visit their website (Guidelines for Staying Safe) for a list of “Events to Avoid” and “Ideas for Celebrating More Safely.”

Residents interested in participating in Trick or Treat should put the front lights of their house on or put a sign on their front door.  For those who are participating, rather than hand out candy, consider putting grab bags or paper cups, with commercially wrapped candy outside the door for children to take.  You can watch and wave to trick-or-treaters through a storm door or window.  Please enjoy Halloween safely.
