[ARCHIVED] CTH M (North Avenue) & Brookfield Road Intersection Improvements

Waukesha County is currently in the process of developing design concepts for an improvement to the North Avenue & Brookfield Road intersection. The existing intersection is an All-Way stop control that has reached its capacity and has many accident issues that will be resolved by an updated intersection design.

The County, with design help from One Source Consulting, is developing two concept alternatives for the intersection improvements; a traditional traffic signal intersection with dedicated turn lanes and pedestrian accommodations; and a modern single lane roundabout. Please see the attached drawings.

A public information meeting was held at the City of Brookfield on June 27, 2012 and conceptual drawings of the signalized and roundabout intersection alternatives were displayed for public review and comment.

At this time, the County has not chosen an alternative to take to final design. The County anticipates making a decision which alternative to construct by early September and a second public information meeting will be held in late September to show the chosen design.

Construction of the intersection improvements is expected to take place from June to August 2013.

If you have any questions regarding this project, please contact the project manager Mr. Michael F. Grulke, PE at 262-548-7740.
